Dare I say it... the best Costes yet. August 26, 2008 Oli O. (New York, New York) This is the first (and probably only) time that I will ever say something along these lines, but..... The NINTH installment of this series may just be the best. That is something you never ever see in another series (talk about Buddha Bar IX, yuck). Anyway, this CD has it all: 1. Some of the best transitions between songs in the entire series. 2. First rate songs. 3. Great selection, the songs are very diverse, yet are mixed to feel deeply intertwined.
I have owned this CD since June, so I know my opinions are solidified, however, with the deeply subpar installment of costes 10, I am praying that Stephane has somethng much, much more solid planned for the imminent release of Costes 11. But kudos to him for managing to make his series' 9th installment the very finest yet.
UPDATE: After listening for another two months, I can't say many of my opinions have changed about this volume. The first 8 tracks of this CD have all soared to near the top of my iTunes "top 25 most played list," all with play counts over 100, and topped off with Parov Stelar's Kiss Me Twice at 172 plays. 2 months, and 100s of listens later, this CD is still at the top of my list. It's the best Costes of all. Buy it.
great music not great mixes December 9, 2007 Alex Arista 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
he did great picking the songs for the album but they are not mixed as they should. some of them just finish and then the other song starts! i mean, if you like a cd to take you into the feeling of the music you dont want to notice when the songs are being changed and just enjoy listening to the whole cd. i did 4stars for this reason instead of 5. good cd. i have all hotel costes collection. if you like good lounge, electro jazz, not commercial thing, then it's a good catch
Sonically Visionary, Ahed of its Time November 27, 2007 Danny (Wichita, KS USA) Will be hard for Pompougnac to top "Et Ecoute Ces Choses" ... doesn't mean he shouldn't try
LAaa. LAaa. LAaa.

maybe he could include lyrics for upcoming albums? That's my own "fault" for this album.
FABULOUS April 20, 2007 Mary (Boise, Idaho USA) This album is so very fabulous - great for parties. The more you listen, the more you'll love it. Reminiscent of early Pompougnac - thankfully!
the best Costes CD since #6 March 24, 2007 Tina Morris (Rockville, MD USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
With this mix Pompougnac goes back to the roots and re-introduces a richer Paris lounge flair, abandoning the more disco-hipster types of rhythms and themes. This may be in response to an exploding market of global lounge music from the frequent flyer series to the destination lounge sets. The album reestablishes Pompougnac as one of the original godfathers of lounge, his picks and his mixing are unique and impeccable. A great album.
