Lost classic - reissued March 29, 2008 Justin Gaines (Atlanta, GA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
One of the most unfairly overlooked bands of the 1980's rock & metal scene, Icon had a heavy yet melodic hard rock sound on par with bands like Pretty Maids, Y&T, TNT, Dokken, Leatherwolf and King Kobra. They released a string of must-have albums in the second half of the 1980's, including 1989's Right Between the Eyes.
It doesn't have quite the same energy that Icon and Night of the Crime had, but Right Between the Eyes is still an impressive album. New vocalist Jerry Harrison gives the band a rougher sound not unlike Pretty Maids' Ronnie Atkins. The songs seem to have a heavier edge this time around. They're still melodic, but they rock a lot harder. The guest appearance by the legendary Alice Cooper on Two for the Road and Holy Man's War was a nice bonus. Let the Hollywood bands worry about their hairdos and spandex, Icon was here to rock, and that's just what they did.
Right Between the Eyes would prove to be Icon's final studio offering. Fans of the 80's melodic hard rock scene absolutely must check out Icon, and while I'd definitely recommend this album, I'd suggest starting at their self-titled debut album and working forward to Right Between the Eyes.
NOTE: Wounded Bird reissued Right Between the Eyes in 2008. Like all Wounded Bird reissues, it has not been digitally remastered, nor does it have any bonus material. It's great to see this forgotten album back in print, but if you're one of the lucky few that already own the 1989 version there's no need to replace it.
RECOMMANDED March 15, 2008 Banca COMERCIALA Romana (ROMANIA) ONE OF THE GREATEST ARENA ROCK ALBUMS FROM THE 80'S . GREAT VOCALS , BRILLIANT GUITAR WORKS AND ALMIGHTY ALICE COOPER SPECIAL GUEST ON 2 TRAX . IF YOU LIKE 'WHITESNAKE 87' OR EARLY 'WINGER ' WORKS DON'T MISS IT . ENJOY THE MADNESS !

Right between The Eyes,Icons last chance offering, came on the heels of 1987's EXTREMELY RARE (possibly only 3500 released) An Even more perfect Union. This is the first cd with Jerry Harrison at the vocals and has a somewhat heavier edge than any of their 3 previous offerings. My personal favorites are the title track,2 for the road, double life, and forever young. There really is not a bad song on this record,as it is in the same tradition of this band's additional releases. If you are interested in Icon, you can contact me at [...].

AOR/Melodic Metal Classic!! July 26, 2005 Stuart M. Tysinger (Johnson City, TN) Icon did what King Kobra did and changed their sound around 1986. But Icon in my opinion did it better. Then came Right Between the Eyes which is in my opinion Icon's best cd. This was the time King Kobra came out with III. But believe me this cd blows King Kobra III away. It has awesome songs, great guitar work & the singers vocals are amazing. If you can find this cd, get it!!!
