Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars You Can't Go Wrong With MoS...   May 21, 2007
Nowfan35 (NYC)
1. Freemasons - Love on My Mind ... A-
By now, this one's a classic. Brought by probably the top remixers right now, the Freemasons, this brings Tina Turner's "When the Heartbreak is Over" to new heights.
2. Les Rhythmes Digitales - Jacques Your Body (Make Me Sweat) ... C+
Featuring the popular remixer Jacques Lu Cont, Les Rhythmes Digitales have released a boring tune which grinds on the eardrums.
3. Axwell - Feel the Vibe (till the Morning Comes) ... B+
Good funky house.
4. Aaron Smith Feat. Luvli - Dancin' (JJ Flores & Steve Smooth Remix) ... B-
Somewhat tedious, but has the tendency to be catchy.
5. Steve Mac Feat. Steve Smith - Lovin' You More (That Big Track) ... B+
Catchy funky house.
6. D.O.N.S Feat. Technotronic - Pump up the Jam (Riffs & Rays Remix) ... B+
Probably the eighth remix I've heard this year of this remake of the popular 90s dance tune.
7. Braund Reynolds - Rocket ... B+
Sometimes fusing rock and dance can pull off a pretty good result.
8. Mylo - Drop the Pressure ... B-
This song loses its magic when not fused with Miami Sound Machine's "Dr. Beat".
9. Lee Cabrera Feat. MIM - I Watch You ... A
Incredibly catchy funky house which is a relief from some of the other funky house tracks on this disc which move to background noise.
10. Joey Negro - Make a Move on Me ... B+
This song pretty much breathes Miami. Good dance.
11. Soulseekerz - Electroshock 2005 ... B
Borders on the edge of tedious.
12. Paul Johnson - She Got Me On (Eric Kupper Remix) ... B
The intro is just plain weird, but the song picks up.
13. Digital Dog - Clothes Off ... B
Takes a while to start, but the bassline is really good, along with the vocals.
14. Fallen Angels - City Life (Herd & Fitz Vocal Mix) ... B
A boring remix - try the one on Big Tunes X-Rated. The vocals are really good, but the music is just boring.
15. LTD Squad - Don't Go (Riffs & Rays Remix) ... B+
Wait...isn't this the same song as the versions on Clubland X-Treme 2 and Clubland 5 by Awesome 3? Yes, it is. The remix here is much worse than those already mentioned, but it's a good song regardless.
16. Luka - Tunemai (Sharon O Love Up North Mix) ... B+
The vocals are good, even if the music is a bit lacking.
17. Futurefunk - Wildberry Tracks ... B-
You would think by the title having the word "wildberry" that this song might be a bit more interesting than it is in reality.
18. Michael Antonio - I Won't Sleep (Raul Rincon Remix) ... B
Raul Rincon always produces fun remixes which remind you of a party on some island...this remix is not much different, only the source track isn't anything to get excited over.
19. Temperamentals - I Could Let You Love Me (DB Boulevard Remix) ... B
A strange answer-track to Mario's "You Should Let Me Love You". The music is loungey, but in the boring sense, so the song lacks.
20. The Disco Boys Feat. Manfred Mann's Earth Band - For You (Dub Mix) ... A-
A catchy remake with good music. Should wake you up a bit from the few previous clunkers.
21. Warp Brothers - Smells Like Teen Spirit (House Spirit Club Mix) ... B+
A decent cover, but hardcore Nirvana fans will be appalled anyway.

So, that's CD ONE. Don't expect that the next two CDs will be tedious like this one was.

CD 2
1. Jamesy P - Nookie ... B-
Eh.
2. Uniting Nations - You & Me ... A-
Pleasantly catchy funky house.
3. DJ Sammy - Why ... A
Old at this point, but still an amazing cover of the Annie Lennox track.
4. Stunt - Raindrops ... A-
I know you're contemplating suing Stunt for completely ripping off Sash!'s "Encore un Fois", but "Raindrops" only takes the music from it. The lyrics are new, and fairly catchy.
5. Sky High - Chymebird (Hypasonic Remix) ... A+
This song fuses Dario G's "Sunchyme" and the Annie Lennox hit "Little Bird", and does an amazing job at it as well. The vocals are pretty good, and once the somewhat overlong breakdown is over, the song really shows its power.
6. Dana Rayne - Flying High (Northstarz Extended Mix) ... A-
Another stellar good song.
7. Ian van Dahl - Inspiration (Paradise Remix) ... A-
This song desperately needed a trance remix, and it got one.
8. Dizzy Deejays - Think About the Way ... B+
The vocals are actually incredibly annoying, but the Dizzy Deejays music is much better than that of Frisco's remix of this Ice MC track.
9. Max Graham Vs. Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart (Movement 1 Remix) ... B
Somewhat catchy, but the music is the only reason to listen to this song.
10. The Lazy Boys Feat. Kym Mazelle - I Am Going to Getcha ... A
This song made me think instantly of the movie "Mean Girls", but that's besides the point. The music is great (especially that repeated riff), and the vocals are powerful. And the lyrics are hilarious as well.
11. Cloud 99 - Fairytale (Divine Inspiration Remix) ... A
You will definitely get lost in this song. The music is deep, and the vocals kind of blend in with it.
12. Klub Kulture - 24/7 (Styles & Breeze Remix) ... A
Another incredibly catchy tune with a great remix by Styles & Breeze. I've heard rumors of Angel City releasing this same track with either the same or dangerously similar vocals as well, which I wouldn't much mind.
13. Onyx - Right in the Night (Hypasonic Mix) ... B+
A pretty good remix of the Jam & Spoon track by one of my favorite hard-trance remixers, Hypasonic.
14. Hypasonic Feat. Nazene - Dream of You (Northstarz Vs. Pez Tellett Remix) ... A-
This singer sounds very much like the one in the very previous track, and both Rezonance Q singles ("Sweetheart" and "Someday"). This is a pretty good song, with good music, and great vocals.
15. Dario G - Made of Stone (Outsiderz Remix) ... B+
The vocals kind of bring this song down a bit (They're kinda annoying), but the music is good.
16. The Space Brothers - Everywhere I Go ... B-
Eh, again.
17. DJ Demand - The One ... B+
Pretty good music and vocals.
18. Cresbo - Don't Give Me Your Life (Cheeky Trax Mix) ... A-
A very good remix/cover of the Shanie/Alex Party track from the 90s.
19. Picco - It Goes On & On (Cheeky Trax Remix) ... A+
Beyond catchy. The hardcore remix by Sy & Unknown (Which is pretty much the same, only faster) is better, but this remix got me liking the song in the first place.
20. Thomas Schwartz Feat. Bonze - More Than a Feeling (Hixxy Remix) ... B
Not the best cover of the Boston track. I've heard MUCH better.
21. Vogue - Missing You (Friday Night Posse Remix) ... A-
A pretty good way to end CD 2.

CD 3
1. Public Domain - Operation Blade ... B
Good.
2. Darude - Sandstorm (JS 16's Energy Mix) ... A-
You just can't have a Dance Classics CD without this one.
3. Paul van Dyk - For an Angel (PVD E-Werk Club Mix) ... A-
They should have included the mashup with Rachel McFarlane's "Lover", but this is good enough.
4. Angel City Feat. Lara McAllen - Love Me Right (Rezonance Q Remix) ... B
Not the best remix of this track, but they probably only put this in because it mixes with the other songs.
5. DJ Sammy & Yanou Feat. Do - Heaven ... A-
Oh, come on. Probably the most well-known dance song of all time.
6. Paffendorf - Be Cool ... A
This is a different version than the one I'm used to...luckily the moaning's gone so the song can actually be enjoyed for what it is. The breakdown is amazing.
7. Jessy - Look at Me Now (Milk Inc. Remix) ... B+
Pretty much the song which began Jessy's career. The original version is better, however.
8. QFX - Freedom (Voodoo & Serano Remix) ... B+
The original version is better, because the introduction before the initial breakdown is way too long.
9. Yomanda - You're Free ... B
Ultra Nate's version blows this one out of the water.
10. Mario Piu - Communication (Somebody Answer the Phone) ... B-
I never knew why this song was so popular...why this is on a "classics" disc somewhat confuses me.
11. Trevor & Simon - Hands Up (Fergie & BK Remix) ... A-
An enjoyable remix.
12. Norman Bass - How U Like Bass ... B+
Pretty good.
13. DJ Misjah & DJ Tim - Access ... A-
Somewhat haunting, but quite good.
14. Cosmic Gate - Fire Wire ... B
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" or "Exploration of Space" would have been a much more welcomed installment to this CD.
15. Snap! - Rhythm is a Dancer (CJ Stone Club Mix) ... A-
A very well-known (and good) remix of the 90s hit.
16. Divine Inspiration - The Way (Put Your Hand in My Hand) (Svenson & Gielen Remix) ... A-
The beat is too low in this song - it's actually quite good. The vocals are very good, and the song overall is pretty catchy.
17. Boogie Pimps - Somebody to Love (Ian Knowles Remix) ... A-
The best remix I've heard for this Jefferson Airplane cover track.
18. Benny Benassi - Satisfaction (Pez Tellett Remix) ... B+
A pretty good donk remix of another one of the most popular dance songs of all time.
19. Tomcraft - Loneliness (Cheekyness Remix) ... B
A somewhat uninteresting remix of "Loneliness".
20. Studio B - I See Girls (Crazy) (Alex K Remix) ... A-
Alex K almost always delivers good donk remixes.

Overall, the first CD sort of blends into background noise, the second CD is simply outstanding, and the third CD fails to compare to the second. But overall, Big Tunes is a great buy, because you get a number of instant favorites spread over three CDs. You really can't go too wrong with Ministry of Sound basically when it comes to dance music.

Overall, this album gets an A-. Bottom line: buy it.
