Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
After making the epic ...And The Day Turned To Night track for the Eclipse album follows a whole album of this incredibly creative project - SHPONGLE - welcome to the weird world of Shpongle, where organic harmonies and melodies blend with the most cutting edge digital effects and modern production to bring you the kind of sonic sensations that will leave you seriously Shpongled! This surely is one of the albums of all time, groundbreaking, perimeter pushing edge of reality stuff that has made it an international classic. With the shelf life of a Californian Redwood these hyper-futuristic fusions may well be held in time forever.

5 out of 5 stars Best electronica to date   July 19, 2008

I'm a huge fan of all Shpongle's albums (including the remixes) and cannot recommend them enough. Each album offers something so remarkable, yet so distinct that no album will leave you bored because it sounds too much like the last one.

"Are you Shpongled?" is probably my favorite, although the others come in a close second. This truly is unlike any group or artist you will hear; top notch production, crazy sounds I didn't know existed, and the beautiful flow of each song make this essential "psytrance goa" or whatever you wanna call it. The extraordinary mix of natural instruments with digital ones and the progressive nature (I really prefer progressive rock/metal as opposed to regular rock/metal for example) of the music help create astounding electronica. It's not overwhelming either. Much of the music is very ambient and relaxing without that repetitive, overbearing beat that plagues too many trance songs these days.

5 out of 5 stars A plesant deviation from the norm   April 14, 2008

Haunting, subtle, alluring, and utterly captivating soundscapes are presented on this debut album from Shpongle. Seething, interdependent polyrhythms displaying the utmost creativity ebb and flow effortlessly in and out of sync with one another, painting a vibrant auditory image guaranteed to stimulate and make you contemplate. A dazzling find for any musically inclined curious mind.

1 out of 5 stars Don't care for it   March 24, 2008

I love trance and ambient and can meditate to most electronic music, no matter how mellow/heavy. I love to close my eyes and visualize "where everything is going" (difficult to express)
So I thought this record would be right up my alley, especially because of these reviews your reading now. It was not even close! It was distracting, creepy, and uninviting. It made me feel on-edge and I could not relax at all. It was so sound-effect-intern cheesy (and indeed cartoonish, as another reviewer thought) that I laughed at the prospect of ever actually taking this record seriously.
If you like to trance-out and meditate on your headphones, you may want to find a long (legal/online!) sample to listen to so you can get a feel for what this is before giving it your time/money.

1 out of 5 stars Not even 1 star   January 26, 2008

Sometimes these reviewers are spaced out, you read their great review, you purchase the product assuming the reviewer is rational, then when you hear the songs you think "what the ...... is this". This is a classic example, this stuff is so weird, it is not even worth considering.

5 out of 5 stars messing with time   December 21, 2005

This is the first of the 3 Shpongle CD's. The others are indeed awesome however, the way these guys mess with time signatures is incredible. And the way they play with processed vocals on this disc is unlike anything I have ever heard before or since. Truly cutting edge! The use of computers allows them to change the way phrases are accented and musical phrases sort of morph from one phrase to another before your very ears. If you're into cutting edge music that is recorded expertly, with incredible production values and you appreciate the music of Gong, Ozric Tentacles, Motivation Radio circa Steve Hillage etc.... you will love this disc.
