Product Description Combining Denon's high performance AVR-589 A/V receiver with Boston Acoustics' Horizon MCS 90 5.1 speaker system, the DHT-589BA home theater system features matched components that combine to provide thrilling movie and music surround sound. The AVR-589 receiver is equipped with multiple audio and video inputs, and features 2 1080p compatible HDMI video inputs, along with 2 component video inputs. Audyssey MultEQ provides automatic room acoustic measurement and correction, and Audyssey Dynamic Volume and Dynamic EQ provide smooth tonal balance at any volume level. The Boston Acoustics Horizon MCS 90 matched 5.1 speaker system features 3 identical front speakers that include dual mid-bass drivers and dome tweeter, and matching 2-way surround speakers. All 5 speakers feature shelf or table-top mounting, in addition to built-in wall-mount capability. The powerful 100 watts subwoofer features a long-throw 8" woofer that reaches all the way down to the lowest deep bass notes.

Great home theater system November 30, 2008 William F. Flemming (Doylestown, PA) This powerful receiver coupled with quality Boston Acoustics speakers will be more than powerful enough for any movie viewer, hosting a party, or just watching tv. Bought this at Sears for $500 when the receiver itself sells for $300. The powered sub does thump and I only have it set slightly above 1/2 volume (gain). Overall I'm very impressed with the system. Only downside is the Ipod dock sells seperatley for ~ 150 and ~250. One dock is Wifi enabled so you can stream music from your laptop. I'd recommend this system for anybody looking for great value with two high end mfgs (Denon and Boston Acoustics) for an affordable price without sacrificing quality.
sub woofer disaster August 12, 2008 R. Westerback (Seattle Wa) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the first home theater system that i have bought and i got talked into getting this instead of the 5 disk dvd changer with surround. my roommate just moved out and he had one of those with GREAT sound and thumping bass. the only downfall was the volume..it got loud but with big parties it was just a tiny bit too quiet. anyway so i got this thinking i will get a blu ray dvd player later when prices go down. my expectations were really high because of the size of the woofer box and the boston acoustics brand but i was highly disapointed. The surround really is pretty nice, but when standing in the middle of my room with the volume up i cant even tell that there is a sub...the volume changes just barely, so it is too loud when your just listening quiet and doesnt CRANK UP when you want it too, it crackles and pops to loud bass also..the reason why the two stars is because of the other speakers, i got a higher gauge wire and they sound really nice but i am taking the system back and either getting a different woofer or a completely different system all together.
