Product Description Got your widescreen HDTV compatible television? Complete the experience with this HT-SR600 high-quality home-theater surround sound system from Onkyo. When it comes to choosing a home theater system, you need to consider some crucial questions: Will it easily connect to existing TVs and high-definition displays with 720p/1080i quality? Can it readily accept all your home entertainment components and switch between DVDs, CDs, MP3s, broadcast programming and game software? Does it draw from an amplification design that can add power and vitality to your entertainment experience? Will it easily fit into, and perform in, virtually any sized room? On top of that, can you wallmount your speakers with 4-axis tilt capability? The HT-SR600 5.1-channel receiver/speaker package provides a compelling answer without burdening you with the price tag carried by more complex separate components and 7.1 speaker systems. Consider your answers. When it comes to experiencing the full breadth of HDTV, this system makes a good deal of sense without sacrificing your dollars. 3 Digital Inputs (2 Optical/1 Coaxial) 4 Composite Video Inputs and 2 Outputs 4 A/V Inputs and 1 Output 2 Audio Inputs and 1 Output H.C.P.S. Needs more November 30, 2008 K. Ward Current Rating(***--) I made the mistake of buying this sound system. Not that it is bad... But it wasnt for me. Although i has a good sound, the sub is under powered, even after changing the receiver settings. The receiver has no HDMI.
Other than that i like everything else. I am upgrading receiver to Onkyo 506 or 606. I am upgrading sub to Dayton SUB-100 HT Series 10"
Sounds Great to me! May 2, 2008 Thomas M. Beck (Tempe, AZ United States) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just picked this sytem up yesterday at Fry's Electronics for $153.00. It was supposed to be on sale for $191.00, I'm not going to argue with an additional $38.00 savings.
Set-up was a breeze and it sounds great. I hooked it up differently than they instructed for using a: Cable Box, DVD Player and a TV. As I have HDMI cables from my Cable Box and DVD Player to my Plasma TV. This is how my Plasma TV said to connect (RCA Cables from The Home Theatre OUT Connections)
You can't beat the sound for $153.00 !!!
My house April 20, 2008 K. Roberts The speakers are outstanding for the room I'm using them in. The software for sound seperation and reproduction suits my ears to a tee. Overall I'm very pleased with performace for the price.
Wonderful System for the price March 29, 2008 Feisty181 (Folsom, CA) We purchased this product to use primarily for movies/tv/video games/etc. and I must say I'm very pleased with it. It is also a very attractive setup as well. I do use it for listening to music sometimes (and it's fine for me) but I can see how a previous reviewer who bought it to replace his stereo system was disappointed though. If you're looking to use it for bumping loud music and the like, it probably is not the right choice. All in all for the price I would say it is a great system though. I'd definately recommend it.
Wasn't sure at first. March 7, 2008 Brian Hoyer (Kalamazoo, Michigan) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I knew for $275 this wasn't going to be the best home theatre system ever, but expected a descent system from Onkyo. The reviews were so-so and when I first installed the system I thought it was good for the money but not the best I had ever heard. I have digital (Comcast) cable and many stations are broadcast in HD and DTS digital sound. I had friends over for the Superbowl 2008 and watched it in HD and Digital Surround Sound. I gotta tell you, when Tom Petty came on at half time, I set the volume at 75 and I could have sworn we were at the show..........in the front row. My friends were just as impressed as I was. It blew us all away. The only bad thing about it is that it was Brets last game. I'll miss you Bret. My family room where the system is installed is 14 feet wide and 25 feet long. Not a huge room but a good size for this system I would say. It took some tweeking of the settings, and I would not recommend this system to someone that isn't willing to (play) with the controls a little. There are a lot of parameters you can adjust and it took some research on the internet (and talking to friends) for me to get it tuned in. Onkyo ROCKS!
