Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This is the seventh awakening of Juno Reactor, which has transformed its sound through film music. From The Matrix films ("Reloaded" and "Revolutions"), to his work in the Japanese films "Brave Story" and "Dimension Bomb", composer Ben Watkins' fascination with Japanese animation makes its way to this release. The evolution of Juno Reactor defines the moment; it changes day by day as Watkins surrounds himself with the best musicians that realize a vision consumed by multiple worlds and diverse cultures. Into the mind portals we travel, eternally dancing to the Reactor's hum in a world consumed by "Gods & Monsters".

1 out of 5 stars Awful. Dreadful. Repetitive. Boring. How can this be?   July 22, 2008
Jean Dupree (NY)
I never thought I would write this kinf of review for a Juno Reactor release, but this album is truly, TRULY terrible. Were this released with a different band name I might have given a higher review. I felt about the same way about this CD as I did with Future Sound of London's 'The Isness' - I wondered WTF I was listening to. I kept thinking this can't be Juno Reactor. There are lyrics... and they're really bad and really repetitive. There's nothing but the same loop over and over in every song. And they're boring loops. This was until the last 2 songs which are way too awful for me to listen to ever again, especially the country & western bit at the end.

Ever since I heard Juno Reactor for the first time I was anxious for their new releases. I rushed off to get Bible of Dreams as soon as it was released, and then every other JR work since, as soon as I could get my hands on the CDs. Most of the time the efforts paid off. Not this time. I kinda wish I could get my money back.

There is one other thing that bothers me a little bit. Two of the tracks were taken from a Matrix video game, and it seemed like there was no real work put into making them stand alone songs, unlike Labyrinth's remix of Mona Lisa Overdrive.

Overall, this was one of the biggest musical disappointments I've had. Prodigy's last CD was painful, but this truly was a shot to the gut. I hope JR gets back to what it does best. Experimentation is good sometimes, but this was uncalled for.

Nice cover, though.

2 out of 5 stars What the heck is this????   July 3, 2008

What happened here? Where's Juno Reactor?

I hate when musicians "evolve" and change their sound to a totally different one. Except "Tanta Pena" the rest of the album has nearly nothing to do with the classic Juno Reactor sound.

No excitement, no energy. It isnt a bad album but the tracks sound more like Massive Attack or Crystal Method. the last two tracks are...just...terrible.

I hope they rectify in their next release and give us what we are expecting to hear. If Ben Watkins wants to play Nick Cave, please let him release a solo album but dont ever let him sing again in a Juno Album. PLEASE.

4 out of 5 stars Trading in the Tribal influence for Jazz?   June 20, 2008
J. Frioux (Oklahoma)
I was so happy to see a new Juno Reactor album, they were the first 'techno' artist I ever got into, and are easily in the top three. But this was not at all like Juno Reactor. There are usually techno songs with some various tribal influenced songs thrown in. The tribes have been shut down for some inner city jazz. I am not sure what Ben Watkins was thinking, but I guess I applaud the fact he is trying something new, and it's not that the songs are bad, they were mostly really good, but it's not like the Juno Reactor I am used to. There are a few tracks that resemble the Juno Reactor of past (thank god!), I was getting really desperate after the first 3 tracks. Over all I am pleased with it for what it is, but very disappointed it was not like traditional Juno Reactor. I give it a 4 because it is good for an entirely new direction.

3 out of 5 stars Musically Amazing, horrible composition.   June 10, 2008

I am a long time fan of Juno Reactor and I strongly feel that this album is their best and worst. Here's the short of it:

If you buy MP3 over CD, GET THESE:

5. Immaculate Crucifixion
6. City Of The Sinful
7. Tanta Pena

You can't go wrong with these three. They pack the punch. These two are also good but different from typical Juno Reactor:

1. Inca Steppa
3. Las Vegas Future Past

Although these next four songs are great musically, they either slow down or don't even fit on the album at all.

SKIP THESE:

2. Tokyo Dub
4. Mind Of The Free
8. Perfect Crime (Superman)
9. Pretty Girl

Both Tokyo Dub and Mind of the Free are somewhat slow and different. They are good songs and would be fine to listen to when you're winding down but I think it was a mistake to put these at the front of the album since it drags the momentum.

Perfect Crime sounds like Dead Can Dance with a Brendon Parry-esque singer. Pretty Girl sounds like Johnny Cash. Both are good songs on their own but have no reason to be on this album. They don't sound like Juno Reactor and have little to no tie to techno.

I am a great fan off Juno Reactor! I have all their cd's and the live dvd great stuff. this is a new sound more of a trance techno intermixed, it is one different sound its not electronica. as some of the reviews state Juno Reactor is on a new direction. I gave it 4 stars I liked it..
