Great for music lovers on Linux August 26, 2008 Dave Dumanis (San Francisco, CA United States) As a Linux user, I've been caught between either trying to make iPods work with Rockbox/Banshee (not always perfect) or using no-name Chinese clones (fine for small music collections, but the lousy interface shows its shortcomings fast if you have a lot of songs.)
The Fuze is exactly what I've been looking for. Set it to MSC mode and you can just drag and drop your songs, no interface software required. Unlike the no-name clones, it reads ID3 tags and organizes your music with a self-updating database inside the player. Really cool.
The sound quality is fantastic, above both iPods and clones to my ears. I haven't tried it for videos and photos yet but hey, that's not what I bought it for. It's also got a super-solid build quality, unlike some of the clones I've used. Other nice touches include remembering what song you were playing if you turn it off and then on again, and remember what artist you were playing when you hit the "artist" menu. (Probably sounds matter-of-fact to iPod users, but cheap clones don't have these features.) Also, the random is a true random unlike some clones.
If you were thinking about getting a no-name clone, I'd suggest paying a little more and getting the Fuze. When you buy an MP3 player, you're not just buying a memory chip, you're buying an interface. And this is a sweet one, with all the great stuff iPod has and none of the proprietary nonsense.
Sandisk 8MG August 26, 2008 D. Adams (Reno, NV) I really like this MP3. Sound is great, easy to use and holds a lot of music without having to buy an extra card. Haven't downloaded any pictures or videos yet.Radio is nice to have. Only negative is there isn't a clip or holder included but it's so small it's easy to carry in your pocket, but when you do that you often hit the pause or fwd button.
Love this item! August 24, 2008 Melody Liu (San Jose, CA) I love this item. It's a great price compared to Itunes. I use it with Raphosdy to get the mp3 songs. Itunes makes you buy every song, but Raphsody lets you pay subscription fee each month to download unlimited songs so for a first time mp3 user like me, I can fill it up with 600+ songs and not break the bank. It's just as small as the Ipod and the price is great. I like to listen to my music in the car so I got an FM transmitter that works great with it. As well, they have an armband for it that works great when jogging. Definitely a great item if you are looking for a new MP3 player.
Excellent Product - Couldn't ask for more features August 23, 2008 Greg Joos (Idaho, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
For those who are looking for an extremely nice but simple Mp3 player, I recommend the Sansa Fuze. The price is very affordable for what you get. It also plays/records FM Radio and can record voice recordings with the built in microphone. With a $30 8GB micro SD card in the expansion slot, I got a 16GB player for only $150.
This item (in my opinion) is an item for someone who really shops, looks for the best value, and is somewhat knowledgeable with computers/technology. The rich and ignorant/trendy person will probably end up getting an Ipod.
Great MP3 Player for the price August 20, 2008 Alex J. Kearney (Baghdad, Iraq) This is by far the best MP3 Player for the price it has 24 hours battery life (For music only (MP3's))plays alot of formats for both music and video, it also has FM radio. Compared to the IPod or Zune its a combo of both without the use of any software, simple drag and drop. For anyone deployed (Like myself) without internet to use IPod/Zune software or anyone looking for a affordable MP3 player this is your choice its far better than any other MP3 Player/MP4 Player on the market for the price.
