Album Description TI serves Flip lyrical lashings on 'Welcome Back' and continues with jabs on 'Jackin' For Beats'. But it's '99 Problemz (But Lil' Flip Ain't One)' where his attempts to throw the knockout blows. Down Wit' the King also features tracks like 'You Don't Know Me', as TI refrains from dissing Flip long enough for a preview of his Urban Legend album along side guests like Paul Wall, Bun B, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones and Ciara. But the 'Rubberband Man' spends the majority of Down Wit' the King attempting to one-two-step on Flip's career. Surprisingly, the biggest blows to Flip's credibility don't come through diss records, but rather recorded phone conversations with Scarface, Clover Land rapper Lil' 3rd and Flip's former manager Hump. During phone convos, Scarface claims to have never seen Flip the Clover Land hood, Lil' 3rd says Flip have no street cred and Hump tells stories of instilling a gangsta image into Flip's heart. In the end, we can give the victory and ''King of the South'' title to TI. His feud with Lil' Flip would later escalate into a physical altercation before their beef was diffused. But Down Wit' the King is recognized as a mixtape classic and a must-have for any T.I. fan. The mixtape has even been ranked #8 by XXL Magazine's The Top 20 Street Albums of All Time. Since Down Wit' the King, TI went on to score his first platinum plaque with Urban Legend in 2005, and his follow up album King also went platinum in 2006. And subsequently, Lil' Flip's career hasn't been the same since. Maybe it does pay to be ''down wit' the king.''

One of T.I's better mixtapes March 13, 2007 Nuisance (Miami) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Tip's beef with Lil Flip caught a fever pitch by the time this mixtape came out. T.I rips Lil Flip a new one with one of the most savage diss records I've heard in a while with 99 Problems(But Lil Flip Aint One). But he doesnt stop there. He sends some more harsh shots at him on Welcome Back, Its Been Said, Keep Talking and he also has phone conversations with Scarface, Hump and Lil 3rd all of whom had some acidic words for him. More standout tracks: FINAL FOUR, JACKIN FOR BEATS(FIRE!!!), THROWBACK, THE END OF THE ROAD, T.I FREESTYLE and WATCH FOR THE CROOK. Filler: Roll Call, In The South, Why(T.I's girl group Xtaci sucks), My Goodies(Tip had some dope verses but I still hate this track), My P***Y(ultraraunchy sex record with Xtaci and Khia. Khia needs to get lost because she is running out of ideas) and Killin Me(snore). Bottom Line: Tip's Down With The King is one of his better mixtapes. Tip was always raw but this mixtape showed his mean side as he chops Lil Flip down to size with venomous but great diss records.
