A favorite of mine for years February 28, 2000 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I'm so glad to see it's been released on CD! Redpath has such a versatile voice, and this collection shows off its full range, from the quiet grief of "Dancing at Whitsun" to the humor of "Captain Wedderburn's Courtship" to the angry "Blackwaterside." Redpath's voice, of course, is as near to perfect as they get, and her interpretations are equally remarkable: powerful and emotional, but never over the top.
One of my favorites! December 17, 1999 If you are stirred by stories of Celtic romance, you will love this album. The music is moving and soulful, and sung with such clarity and emotion that you will be spellbound. You will find the tunes haunting you, with images of stormswept coastlines and spring meadows in bloom. If you liked Riverdance, read Rosamund Pilcher, or enjoy Charlotte Church's Welsh folk songs - you will ADORE Jean Redpath!

With pure perfection Redpath succeeds in drawing the listener into her world of Scottish song. This CD is a perfect choice for those buying their first Redpath CD. Each selection makes one want to hear more. A warning! Wear a sweather to keep warm as you listen to 'the Terror Time'
