Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
I know exactly what George Jones feels. But I know what Ray Charles feels, too. So said Billy Joe Royal when talking about his art, and a more eloquent summation of his pop-and-R&B-inflected approach to country could not be found. This 1987 album comes right in the middle of his 80s resurgence for Atlantic.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great BJR CD   September 8, 2008
Henry A. Olszowy (Brisbane, Australia)
I am a baby boomer and grew up with the likes of Billy Joe Royal. He has a fantastic voice and I have always liked his music. The "Royal Treatment" CD is classical country music in the 1970s style and if you are a country music fan you will love this CD. Every song is 5 out of 5. Henry from Australia.

5 out of 5 stars A Bit Confusing,   July 14, 2008
Joseph A. Sanders (Phoenix, Arizona, United States)
I bought this CD in 1987 when it was first released. I loved every song on this CD and even today still love all these songs. Billy Joey Royal has a voice that is just very beautiful.

One thing that is confusing me though, the song Members Only is not listed in the track listing on this CD. On the original recording it is track 6, but it appears that this song was removed. I have looked for this album because I had misplaced my original, luckily I found it and have the song again, but it's hard to find this CD in original format with the song Members Only still included. I'm confused as to why this is!

I LOVE IT, but to me the song Members Only makes this CD even more awesome.

3 out of 5 stars Bought it in 1990, still listen toit today   March 27, 2008

"I'll Pin a Note On Your Pillow", "Out of Sight and on my Mind", "She Don't Cry Like She Used To". These alone are worth the CD, although there are a few other lesser known gems here.

For reference, I like Atlanta (impossible to find on CD), Mason-Dixon, Asleep At The Wheel as choices as well.

5 out of 5 stars Royally Well Done!   August 1, 2005
Elsita (Chicago, IL)
I absolutely love this cd. My most favorite song is "Look What You've Done To My Heart". Anyone who has fallen in love, with the intensity that makes your heart ache, will relate to this beautiful song. Billy Joe has such a distinctive voice.

3 out of 5 stars Royal treatment, standard fare   August 22, 1999

A likeable late-80s country crossover album with few surprises. Often redeemed by Royal's pleasant vocals, the tone of the album seems typical of the decade. One delightful note is the duet with Donna Fargo "Members Only".
