After establishing herself as "the Linda Ronstadt of the '90s," Trisha Yearwood seems to be suffering from the sort of hackneyed production that undermined Ronstadt's career. Despite her impeccable vocal control, she barely finds room to breathe amid coproducer Mark Wright's cheesy bombast on the album-opening "Love Alone." The following cut and first single, "I Would've Loved You Anyway," sounds like a Celine Dion ballad that got lost on the way to a movie soundtrack. Fortunately, Yearwood loosens up with the playful bite of Matraca Berg's "For a While" providing material worth sinking her teeth into, while vocal support from Vince Gill ("I Don't Paint Myself into Corners") and Buddy Miller ("Love Let Go") complements her subtle soulfulness. A sing-along with Rosanne Cash on a remake of the latter's "Seven Year Ache" adds little to the classic original, but neither does it subtract appreciably. The title track features Don Henley on a frisky duet that reprises his and Yearwood's "Walkaway Joe" pairing. --Don McLeese

4 out of 5 stars Trish Story   August 8, 2007
Gen X Music Addict (Minnesota)
Inside Out is, in my opinion, rather similar to Real Live Woman in that both are pretty mellow, low-key albums. A lot of good singing by Trisha, of course, but in not too many of the songs does the music grab you. Notable standouts on this one:

For a While - has a determined feel to it
7 Year Ache - good beat, more uptempo

The rest of the album is solid, but not spectacular

4 out of 5 stars and a 1/2   May 10, 2007

Oh yes, Trisha Yearwood. I must first say Ive been a huge fan of Trishas since 1991. Her debut albums is just amazing. Her second even better. In fact all of yearwoods albums have been great. Never crossing to many lines. In fact running along the lines of what great music is. Inside Out is just that. My favorite track on the album " I Dont Paint Myself Into Corners "is just amazingly perfect. Kind of like a guilty pleasure. " I Wouldve Loveed You Anyway " is also great. Like the opener " Love Alone " Ge the alubum you'll love it ( I promise )

I'm really enjoying how Trisha Yearwood is giving us a good blend of music on this album. Traditional country ballads along with new folksy-americana style songs. I know alot fans were turned off by this album not being all completely country but the true fans stuck by Trisha through her musical evolution. She has in my opinion the most beautiful and powerful voice in country music or any genre of music today. The music on this album has something for everyone so be sure to check it out.

Again Yearwood has made a great album. and she keeps on growing and developing in her style. just as the album she made before this one, Real live Woman, she just keeps getting better and better. There are some true gems on this record; For a while, Seven year ache, I don't paint myself into corners, Iside out, Love let go and Love me or leave me alone. And the rest of the songs arn't that bad. and even though i don't like all of the songs as much as i love the once i've listed, i think those songs are so good that this record deserves 5 stars!

1.) "Inside-Out" was originally writen and performed by Bryan Adams on 1998's "On A Day Like Today" album.

2.) The album otherwise is good.

3.) She's easy on the eyes.

4.) I recommend this.
