As a professional folk and cowboy entertainer, I would like to say that this is my #2 favorite Don Edwards album. (#1 one is Desert Nights and Cowtown Blues, on his own Sevenshoux label, or available through Cowboy Jubilee/Schanachie?) The music on Goin'Back to Texas ranges from up-tempo Western Swing to ballads, the Ian Tyson tune Will James (about the famous cowboy novelist and artist), and songs about the beauty of nature - Prairie Lullabye. From contemporary writing to 100+ year-old night-herding tunes (Doney Gal with 15 verses), this album has some of my favorite music, lyrics and top backup personnel and arrangements. A must-have for anyone who's really interested in Western music!
