| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com essential recording From his childhood on the family farm in rural Tuscany to the worldwide stage, Andrea Bocelli has achieved phenomenal success. His singing is only partially the point, and his fame owes much more to the aura of romance and the romantic archetype that's attached to him. Romanza is by far Bocelli's largest success, winning adoration thanks to the swooning vocals and the easy, sometimes lush, always pop-safe instrumental textures and melodies. As far as his opera chops go, Bocelli has won the approval of Pavarotti but likely will not wow enthusiasts. The upside is that Bocelli will likely grow the opera pie, convincing labels to take on more operatic projects. --Andrew Bartlett

Yet another opinion of Romanza March 12, 2010 P. D. Schaffer (Lake Elsinore, CA) Count me as another favorable review of this CD and Bocelli. My favorite song is "Il Mare Calmo della Sera", but if you want to see a wonderful version, go to YouTube and watch Bocelli's Sanremo winning performance of this. The response of the audience is wonderful. I love the two voices in the song, and since Zucchero was a contributor to the song (under the name Malise), I can hear his voice (which I love, by the way) in part of it. Oh, but when Bocelli's voice breaks through, it takes my breath away. And I believe Zucchero is also connected with Rapsodia, and of course, Miserere (although as mentioned, he is not the singer on this edition).
For those critics who have a problem with Bocelli being compared to Pavarotti, remember that he and Bocelli were friends, and sang together more than once. Maybe it takes a talent to recognize a talent, and that is why some of the critics can't recognize it when they see it.
Fabulous! July 13, 2009 Anna Marie Fritz (Wisconsin, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
He is one of the "great voices" of our modern era, and this romantic album is superbly representative of his emotional genius in singing.

Romanza - Lush and Wonderful March 4, 2009 George (Chicago) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an extremly wonderful CD. I think one of Bocelli's best. The only caution I would give someone, is I bought a used copy that was supposed to be in very good condition and to say the least it was not. If you are going to buy this CD which is just so beautiful every song, then buy the new copy directly from amazon it's most assuradly worth the price because you truly are getting a wonderful CD.
This CD compiles the best of Andrea Bocelli January 21, 2009 Vivian M. Estrada-Mora (New Jersey, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In my humble opinion, Andrea Bocelli's Romanza compiles, what I consider- besides his DVD at his Italian home town's concert- the very best of Andrea Bocelli. I could hear it over and over without getting tired of listening to Andrea Bocelli's magnificent music.
Bravo Andrea, complimenti!

ONLY 5 STARS????? January 4, 2009 D. Ferguson (Brooklyn, NY United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wish I could have given it 10 stars! If you love Italian opera, don't miss this one. I fell in love with Con Te Partiro the first time I heard it, blasting from a passing convertible in Brooklyn, NY back in 1998. Didn't know the artist at the time, but ran to the record store and hummed the tune that was replaying over & over in my mind. I was introduced to Bocelli that day on the Romanza CD and have loved him ever since.
As a long time Pavarotti fan, the thought of someone else trying to sing Nessun Dorma made me shudder, but Bocelli nailed it (Viaggio Italiano CD).
No, I am not your typical Italian opera fan. I am a 57 year old Black woman from Brooklyn, NY that happens to love Italian opera. I cried when we lost Pavarotti, and I thank God for bringing us Bocelli.
You'll love him too!
