Amazon.com Product Description
Sherwood's incredibly affordable RX-4105 offers integrated preamplification and amplification, inputs for numerous audio source components, and advanced radio tuning and station access. The receiver delivers 100 watts RMS per channel x 2 for strong, clear sound across the audible spectrum--even at low listening levels. The company has lowered the amplifier's distortion relative to the previous model (the RX-4105), to less than 0.08 percent, while also giving the receiver a new layout borrowed from its higher-end components.

The RX-4105 uses totally discrete amplifiers for all channels (TDAS) to maintain its high power and low distortion. Use the receiver's A and B clip-type speaker outputs to power 2 different rooms, or to biwire a pair of speakers for more efficient amplification (with A outputs driving the woofers, for instance, and the B outputs driving the tweeters--make sure your speakers are compatible if this is a key feature for you).

The receiver also offers a handy 25-key remote control and switching for 2 pair of loudspeakers. Audio inputs switch between and amplify up to 4 additional components, including 2 requiring both inputs and outputs (such as a cassette deck and a VCR). The built-in AM/FM tuner features 30 station presets and auto station setup.

Other features include bass and treble tone controls, a dimmable fluorescent display, and a .25-inch headphone jack for private listening.

What's in the Box
Sherwood RX-4105 receiver, remote control, AC power supply cord, FM indoor antenna, AM loop antenna set, and owner's manual.

Product Description
In modern, surround sound driven audio universe where home theater enthusiasts hear airplanes fly overhead and bombs exploding around them, one might think that mere Stereo is old fashioned. But don't be mislead - humans have only two ears and stereo is still a significant life form. The case in point: the RX-4105. It's actually an update of the market leading RX-4100/4103. Rated at 100 watts, Sherwood Electronic has reduced distortion significantly. It's now less than 0.20% from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The RX-4105 has a good AM/FM tuner with the ability to pre-set up to 30 favorite stations. It has inputs for 4 audio sources to accommodate your sound gear. And the sound is phenomenal - as you'd expect from a company that dates its own existence to before stereo's birth. And the RX-4105 has at least one unexpected grace: the ability to independently select up to two sets of loudspeakers via the supplied remote control. (Audio purists will be pleased to know that this relay-controlled switching puts the speakers in parallel, maintaining their individual sound qualities.)

5 out of 5 stars Great Deal For The Money   February 21, 2010
Bartok-Zappa freak (West Tennessee)
I bought this unit to replace a 40-year-old Akai stereo receiver that finally gave it up. I really only use it as an amplifier for a bedroom DVD-CD player and television powering a pair of speakers. The satellite programming package I use has music channels included and I live in the country so I don't use the FM receiver section of the unit, so I can't comment on that. It sounds and works great so far (a big sonic improvement over my old receiver) and has more than enough inputs for my needs, so I feel it is an outstanding buy for the money. I also like having a remote control with a mute function for use with the TV which the old Akai receiver didn't have. I'm considering buying another one for powering some speakers I own to use with my computer instead of the inferior ones that came with it.

4 out of 5 stars bang for the buck   February 21, 2010

Price is what sold me on this particular receiver. In the time that i have had it, it has sounded good and performed as expected.

5 out of 5 stars Good inexpensive receivers still exist   February 20, 2010

Bought this to power my house wide built in speakers. It will power Polk floor standing main speakers along with the house system...with ease. At first it would clip if I played it too loud, but after time it quit doing that and plays like one of those old Japanese receivers from the seventies. Clean, full frequency response power...an amazing deal.
