Doo Wop, PROPER-ly done December 31, 2006 Annie Van Auken (Planet Earth) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
British label PROPER records scores another huge hit with DOO-WOP DELIGHTS. The surprisingly compact album box contains a catalog, a 60 page liner notes/photos book, and four colorfully packaged CDs that hold a total of 100 great old vocal group recordings.
Each disc has a theme. CD #1 is called FROM RAGS TO RICHES. Disc #2 is TOO HOT TO HANDLE. Album #3 is entitled ROCKING & CRYING BLUES, and #4 is named CALL A DOCTOR. DOO-WOP DELIGHTS is about 5 hours of fabulous-sounding music for the price of one CD. How DOO they do it?

I thank you Stewart L.
Excellent collection of early Doo Wop. June 6, 2005 HardyBoys.us (Long Island USA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This 4 CD box set by Proper is a fantastic collection of early (1950-1954) Doo Wop featuring the earlier R&B-tinged work of many classic groups such as the Flamingos, the Moonglows, the Platters, the Ravens, the 5 Royales and many others. This set clearly illustrates R&B's evolution into Doo Wop. The accompanying booklet is very well researched although not laid out in the order of the songs. All the recordings are the original versions and the sound quality is first-rate. The box sets by Proper continue to amaze me with their quality and low price. A "must-have" for all Doo Wop fans.
