Album Description The Story of Love is energetic, soulful and beautifully put together with a wonderful mix of great songs, awesome guitar work, powerful arrangements and stunning vocals. This CD offers Monte's fans a new dimension of his triple talent as a Singer, Songwriter and Guitarist. Monte breaks new ground as he lays bare innermost songwriting in a varied array of tender songs with soulful and heartfelt presentations. For the first time, Monte offers an acoustic solo performance on piano displaying one more facet of his seemingly infinite talent. Not only does this CD showcase Monte's abilities as a refined Vocalist, Songwriter and Musician, it also reflects his skills as an Arranger and Producer. The Story Of Love delivers a full array of Monte's gifts to his fans with class and finesse. Monte is the current 6-Time Defending Champion as Best Acoustic Guitarist at the Austin Music Awards. Monte's new Signature Guitar Line by Alvarez Guitars will be in music stores nationally in January 2004.

Don't believe the naysayers April 1, 2005 Wirewood (Dayton, OH) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
There comes a time in a musician's career when they can choose to focus on thier technique and prowess at their instrument, or they can choose to use the skill they have gained to contribute to songwriting. Monte is on the latter path. This album is absolutely one of his finest, with each and every song being excellently crafted with thoughtful words and melodies. Monte began his career as a guitar prodigy, and there are many out there that wish he would just stick to noodling on the fretboard, producing as many notes as possible in the shortest period of time. While his technique is jaw-droppingly good, Monte has moved on and is now focused on writing songs. So for those looking for guitar acrobatics, this is not the album for you. But if you are interested in fantastically *written* songs with good melodies and excellent words, then I would highly recommend this album.
Waited a long time for this CD . . . January 22, 2005 Fred Scheit (Manchester, United Kingdom) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
. . . but must sadly say I'm slightly disappointed in this offering. I guess I've been spoilt by the totally awesome "Mirror" CD, that I have constantly played since its release. The follow up "Wishing Well" was slightly inferior to "Mirror", but very good nonetheless. I feel this latest offering is a retrograde step, it doesn't offer (to me anyway) the innovative excitement of the performance that attracted me to Monte in the first place. For newbies interested in stunning guitar work, you MUST get the "Mirror" CD!!
Monte does it again September 12, 2004 Audie O. Junkee 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Monte Montgomery comes through again with his 5th studio album. Each new release offers something a little different, but retains enough of his unique musical stylings to create a respectable catalog. On 'The Story of Love', Monte refrains from most of the guitar pyrotechnics and offers up somewhat of a concept album. The concept being the ups downs and sideways of personal relationships. The vocals come through with passion and conviction, and the guitar playing is as mature as the singing. The experience shows. I recommend this CD, though no single album of his provides the whole picture. You should (and will) buy the others.
Different than past projects, but it grew on me quickly April 25, 2004 Stephen Davis (Austin, TX United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This CD was not what I expected from Monte, but, as the songwriter and producer, I think he did a great job with this concept album. The music is interesting and diverse.
Worst Album Work Yet March 23, 2004 bubby clark (Chicago) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been going to Monte shows and buying his gear and albums for over 15 years...all I can say about this album is "DISAPPOINTED!!!!" This album is TOTALLY un-Monte...I don't know what the other two reviewers are smoking, but this album blows!I wish I could find something good to say about this effort, but I just can't hear anything inspiring here. Do yourself a favor and buy ANYTHING else he has to offer...you'll be glad you did. This effort is just not anything to brag about...he probably had to put out an album to fulfill some contract agreement. Pick yourself back up again Monte and go back to kicking ass...more of this crap, and people will start saying "Monte who?"
