Decent Gary Moore CD February 15, 2008 Dale (Hillsborough,N.J. USA) I personally liked "Blues Alive" and "Best of the Blues" better than this CD. Check out the soundbytes of the other CDs before buying this one.
GREAT BLUES! September 11, 2007 Ralph THIS AND STILL GOT THE BLUES ARE HIS BEST WORK! ALSO RECOMMENDED, BLUES FOR GREENY. VERY DISSAPOINTED IN OTHER OUTPUT. TOO MUCH QUANTITY AND NOT ENOUGH QUALITY. THE THREE MENTIONED ARE DEFINITELY WORTH YOUR TIME!
Run of the mill recording by Gary December 25, 2005 M. D. Fonseca (Thunder) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Played vigorously by Moore, Daisley and Mooney, this is a "safe" record by Gary, where he plays some standards and a lot of original material that seems a LOT like a LOT of standards... Anyway, it will do no harm to his already marvellous body of work, and it's a good listening experience.
Great music, questionable vocals September 16, 2005 Baberufus (West Jordan, UT USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Gary Moore's "Still Got The Blues" album delivered top notch guitar playing AND vocals. He always has been known more for his guitar playing than his singing, but on that album from 1990 his vocals were very good, particularly on the title track. However, while his guitar is as good as ever on this 2004 "Power Of The Blues" release, his vocals, for some reason, have taken on a weird, almost goofy flavor. Maybe he was dissatisfied with his singing on "Still Got The Blues" and was trying a "new style." Well, Gary, let's leave well enough alone and stick to the formula, my man! We know you can do better! Overall, though, a great blues/rock album. I'm a Gary Moore fan mostly due to his guitar, anyway, so I'm willing to overlook his "affected" vocals for the most part.
Now this is his best blues rock album! September 12, 2005 Petri (Slovakia, Middle Europe) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Really, this is his best bluesy record, not the ultra famous ultra celebrated Still got the blues. This has got great tracks all the way through. The melodies are very good and Gary gives the blues a hard rocking edge. And Gary doesn't overplay here. And his vocals suit to the songs more than on his earlier bluesy albums. GET IT
