| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com This packed double-disc is the slim option for fans who find the Eagles' vaunted greatest hits sets too little and the boxed set too hefty. Hit singles large and medium are here, often ("One of These Nights," "Hotel California") still sounding definitive and even tough. Large helpings of favorite album cuts are also included, along with a taster from a promised 2004 Eagles studio reunion. Unfortunately, "Hole in the World," Don Henley's response to September 11, feels just as empty and entitled as "Get Over It," the band's previous state-of-the-union message (from which the newer song represents a philosophical 180-degree turn). But for those seeking an overview of this Southern California juggernaut's successes, as well as telling comments from band members--mostly Henley and Frey--in a well-designed booklet, Very Best will more than do. --Rickey Wright

Classic Eagles music August 26, 2008 <●> Z <●> (New York State) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Amazon offered this item at an unbelievable price of $3.99 as a lightning deal. Who can beat that price for classic music from the Eagles. This two disc CD to a bonus addition to any music lovers collection.
Good listening Music! August 25, 2008 Kenneth H. Waters (Brooklyn, NY United States) I made my purchase after reading an Amazon.com recommendation and review. Most of the Eagles music is very soothing, cool and mellow. Just plain old "Good listening music". Its not for everybody,..but then what is?
The Very Best of The Eagles Delivers! August 25, 2008 Mark (NY, NJ, CT USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Eagles - The Very Best Of is the reissued two disk collection that was originally re-released in 2003. Having a lot of this music on box sets and vinyl, I didn't pick it up then but I have now. Overall, I am actually very impressed with this collection. There are a few things that I personally would have changed but this is no doubt a very nice collection, particularly for casual fans who don't own many Eagles albums already.
First of all, this is a best of collection that truly lives up to its name, at least if you go by songs that people can recognize. Basically all the most recognizable hits are here, and there's a nice mix of great songs that are less well known too. So this is a great way for casual fans to get the music they probably think of when they hear "The Eagles."
Now, for more serious fans and students of music history, the enclosed booklet is succinct and yet jam packed with information. Essentially, each song is discussed by the key players in the Eagles, namely Glenn Fray and Don Henley. They talk about where they got their song ideas from and how they evolved. Great stuff.
Now I personally would not have split the Hotel California track onto the end of disk 1. Putting it with the other songs from the same album at the beginning of disk 2 would have made more sense for continuity as well as lent more weight to disk 2. It feels like too many of the more recognizable songs on disk 1. Still, I know for most people, the way they did it will be much appreciated.
This is a no brainer as far as music disks go. Get it!
Enjoy!
All the Eagles classic songs in one set. Peaceful, easy listening! August 23, 2008 Anjana Nigam (Atlanta, GA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Eagles is one of my all time favorite bands, and I love to play their songs especially when driving. There is just something about "Peaceful, easy feeling" and "Tequila Sunrise" which lends itself to driving down long distances gazing into the horizon. This set lives up to its "Very Best of" title. It has all the Eagles gems in one solid collection.
Although I already owned almost all the songs and had them on my MP3 player, it was good to get the 4-5 songs I did not have in one collection for easy playing. I still use CDs in my car as hooking up the MP3 player to car speakers through FM produces too much static.
The good news was that this set was only $3.99 in the gold box deal AND came with a little booklet with some nice art which goes into the history behind each of the songs in the 2 CD set.
Fantastic August 22, 2008 Barbara A. Beatty (Fayetteville, AR USA) The Very Best of the Eagles: Its audio music, and its the Eagles. There really is no need to say more. This is the best of their albums in my personal view. The main reason I bought the album was for the song, "Hole In the World", but the rest are also fantastic.
