Product Description
ATO Records is pleased to announce the release of The Drive-By Truckers label debut, The Big To-Do. The album, which will be the band s tenth in their thirteen-year career, is scheduled to be released March 16, 2010. The Big To-Do features thirteen new tracks from the Drive-By Truckers and was produced by their long time producer, David Barbe (Sugar, Bettye LaVette). 'It s very much a rock album,' says Patterson Hood of the Trucker s upcoming release. 'Very melodic and more rocking than anything we ve done since disc 2 of Southern Rock Opera.'

Hood and Mike Cooley continue to be the chief songwriters of the group, continuing a musical partnership that has lasted over twentythree years. Bassist, Shonna Tucker, flexes her songwriting muscles once again by contributing two original songs to the album. Brad Morgan (drums), John Neff (guitar/pedal steel) and Jay Gonzalez (keyboards) round out the current Drive-By Truckers lineup.

The band recently backed legendary R&B musician, Booker T. Jones, on his critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated album, Potato Hole. The album is nominated for Best Pop Instrumental Album and Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

5 out of 5 stars Drive-By Truckers release another winner.   July 21, 2010
Carly Errebo (kansas)
The Drive-By Truckers new cd "The Big-To-Do" is just a long list of great albums from this smoking Southern rock outfit. Tracks like "Daddy Learned to Fly", "The Fourth Night Of My Drinking" a song that hits home sometimes when i think about my younger days. Patterson Hood also wrote "Drag The Lake Charlie","The Wig He Made Me Wear" this is top notch DBT, also the single from the album "This F---ing Job","After The Scene Dies","Santa Fe" and "The Flying Wallendas". Mike Cooley contributes "Birthday Boy" and the funky "Get Downtown" and ""Eyes Like Glue". Bassist Shonna Tucker adds two songs to the mix, which i think are her best songs yet, "(It's Gonna Be) I Told You So" this should get airplay so people could here another side of the TRUCKERS. Also she wrote "You Got Another". Overall this is in my top 5 of 2010 (so far). Other DBT releases that you should check-out: "Brighter Than Creations Dark", "The Dirty South" and "A BLessing And A Curse".

3 out of 5 stars Not their best, but still good   June 24, 2010

I gotta say I'm a huge DBT fan---bought Ganstabilly about 2 years ago after I realized that all my music was old, and went on a renaissance of music, loved it, and bought everything they did in print. But compared to some of their heart wrenching music like Goddamn Lonely Love or Love Like This, or the fun songs like Lisa's Birthday, Daddy's Cup, this album just doesn't have anything that makes you want to pour out 2 fingers of Jim Beam. Hey, still like it when it shuffles along on my Zune, but not their best.

4 out of 5 stars DBT: A Big To-Do   May 14, 2010

The Big To-Do is the Trucker's 2010 album. It is a quality album, well conceived, well written and well played. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the band misses the little extra that Jason Isbell provided. However, Patterson Hood takes up a good deal of the slack, and it is his tunes that really drive this album, Fourth Night of My Drinking, Drag the Lake Charlie, The Wig He Made Her Wear, This "F"n Job, and the FLying Wallendas are all excellent cuts. I do hope that Cooley contributes more on the next album because I like his songs too. I think Shonna Tucker's tunes are the lowest points on the album, but with time she hopefully will improve.

While this album does not reach the heights of Southern Rock Opera or the Dirty South, it is a fine complement to their catalog. A solid four stars. Recommended.
