Album Details Same as USA Version.
Amazon.com essential recording With the pop sense of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks now leading the band, Fleetwood Mac moved completely away from blues and created this homage to love, Southern California-style. Each songwriter makes his or her presence known: Nicks for her dreamy, mystical reveries ("Dreams," "Gold Dust Woman:); Christine McVie for her ultra-catchy slogans ("Don't Stop"); and Buckingham for his deceptively simple pop songs ("Second Hand News," "Go Your Own Way"). "The Chain," written collectively, is the Mac at their most dramatic. But it's the ensemble playing, the elastic rhythms, and lush harmonies that transform the material into classic FM fare. --Rob O'Connor

An Album to Savor... December 25, 2008 A Positive Guy (San Antonio, Texas United States) over and over again. Some things just get better with age and Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours' is one of them. Some of the songs are haunting, some upbeat, but every one on this CD is superb.
Fleetwood Mac has that special combination of ingredients that made for solid gold. I hate to say that the day of great music like this has come and gone, but where has music like this gone?
Get this CD, relax, and kick back and remember or discover for the first time what real music is. This is a classic for the ages!
It's No Rumour, This Album Is A Masterwork. November 1, 2008 BeatlesFan3287 (Fairfield) A definite change from the group's blues past, Rumours is the second album released by the band featuring the classic line up which included, female singer-songwriters, Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie. The two girls contribute a number of songs here as does the band's front man, Lindsey Buckingham. This line up is seriously different from that of the original group. Originally a blues outfit, things almost got out of hand for the band when guitarist Peter Green left due to metal illness. Instead of calling it a day, they continued on while changing their sound to reflect the growing California soft rock scene. While Green was indeed a blues guitarist, Buckingham took on his role but as a more conventional pop-rock player. This does not mean that Buckingham couldn't play well: just listen to his solo on "Go Your Own Way" for proof that he is still a master of the fret-board.
Even though they are presented as well-produced soft rock numbers, the songs often have deep-meanings. The lyrical complexity of "Oh Daddy", and "Gold Dust Woman" rival that of a lot of progressive rock. This was somewhat rare as alot of soft rock from the 70s had superficial lyrics to match the gloss of the production. And when it comes to 70s soft-rock, Fleetwood Mac was the cream of the crop. Many bands were very much inspired by Mac's sound and approach to songwriting but few, however, reached Mac's height. Maybe it was because they were the best at what they did or maybe it was because of the reputation they had already built as a blues group but Fleetwood Mac quickly became one of the most popular groups of all time. Rumours alone has sold countless copies and is on many "best of" lists. Fleetwood Mac has rightfully taken its place amoung the giants of rock-n-roll even if it took them years and several line up changes to do it. The fact that this band made it through such hardships is what really makes them rock greats.
A Classic October 4, 2008 Thin Lizzy This is a classic album--really the best of Fleetwood Mac. We had it as a record as a kid and it was time for me to own it. A great one!
Best album ever by anyone, turkeys! September 26, 2008 Robert Frank (Jacksonville, FL United States) I can't think of a better release by any other band. 30 years of listening and it is the only album I can still stand. I remember so many times claiming that a different album is the best of all time. Such as the Wall, Styx's Pieces of 8, Foreigner's Head Games, Journey's Escape. I'm just naming a few but there are many others. Maybe Sgt. Pepper or Pet Sounds would beat out Rumors but I would walk away with Rumors if I had to chose. Sgt. Pepper and Pet Sounds were before my time anyway. Lindsey Buckingham really put together a masterpiece here. My favorite song on the album is "Go Your Own Way". What a great breakup song that is! The reason I was checking out the reviews is I was curious who the $#!^ would give Rumors less then 5 stars? The Amazon average is 4.5 stars so some of you turkeys don't know good music. Maybe you put on the Britney Spears on by mistake instead of Rumors. :-)
