Excellent compilation February 2, 2007 Gary Selikow (Great Kush) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I prefer LIve Killers to this album but I prefer this album to Live At Wembley. People have complained about the editing but it is still an excellent compilation, and does recreate the magic of a live performance by Queen, in the days of the late great Freddie Mercury. It starts out with One Vision, continues with the great hard rocker Tie Your Mother Down, continues with one of my favourites, the glam rock Seven Seas Of Rhye, followed by the pop hit A Kind Of Magic to the mesmerizing Under Pressure, Another One Bites The Dust, with it's powerful beat, the spirited I Want To Break Free, the enviromental awareness song, This Is The World We Created?, Queen's best known hit, the rock opera This Is The World We Created?, the funky Hammer To Fall and Radio Gaga, the hit used in sports matches and advertisements around the world, We Will Rock You, the comforting Friends Will Be Friends and the anthemic We Are The Champions, before ending with Queen's version of God Save The Queen. A great rounding off to your collection, but the greatest hits albums first, and possibly Queen's earlier albums.
QUEEN'S LIVE N LITE COMPILATION January 9, 2005 G. YEO (Singapore) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This disc was the 2nd live offering from Queen after QUEEN LIVE KILLERS was made in the late seventies.
I like it a lot and prefer this to Live at Wembley and even the recent On Fire, all of which are double sets.
Here's why - although it's edited - the performances are sterling. Versions of One Vision, Tie Your Mother Down and Radio Gaga are great.
No disagreements that Bohemian sounds butchered but the album moves along at a nice pace. It feels tighter. Worth getting for the songs unless you must have a complete double set of Queen in concert.
I will say that the definitive live Queen set is probably still in the vaults waiting to be released...
